The Leitner Learning System

The best and fastest way to learn a lot of definitions and idiom is using the Leitner System. It is based on so-called spaced repetition, invented bij Dr Leitner. 

The principle is simple. First, you write the cards yourself. This way you already learn. You have to decide what you write down and how you write it down. Those two elements combined already make new connections in your brain, making remembering the cards easier. 

the 3 steps of the leitner System

1. All the cards start in box 1

After you’ve written the cards, you put them all in ‘Box 1’, or the first stack. 

You learn these cards 
every day  

You know one? Get it in Box 2

If you know a card from the first box, it goes to the second one. 

You learn the cards in this box 
every 3 days

You know one from 2? it goes to box 3

If you know a card from the second box, it goes to Box 3. 

You learn the cards in this box 
every 5 days

Can’t remember a card from Box 2 or Box 3? It goes back to Box 1
