The flashcard that didn't exist yet

In 2017, Marcel Keetman and Patricia Kleiberg were printing index cards as a favour for a family member studying at a Dutch gymnasium. She had been repurposing address cards from a stationery chain, because proper flashcards in the Netherlands simply didn't exist. They were dull, overpriced, and clearly never designed for studying.

So we built them from scratch. Vivid colours, 300gsm FSC-certified paper, printed in the Netherlands, affordable by design.

We weren't the only ones waiting for this.

From one webshop to a global brand

What started as Flashcardsbestellen.nl has grown into something we genuinely didn't see coming. Over 250,000 customers across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and now worldwide. University students pulling all-nighters. Private schools placing classroom orders. Learning coaches commissioning custom card sets. Teachers equipping entire classrooms. Institutions that simply want the best.

Along the way we've built out a full product ecosystem: classroom packs, business packs, and our own line of accessories, from sticker sheets to complete study planners, because good studying deserves good tools.

Still made by hand. Still made in the Netherlands.

We print them ourselves. Cut them ourselves. Bundle them ourselves, in Sneek, the Netherlands, just like day one. That means we control every step: the weight of the paper, the sharpness of the cut, the consistency of every pack that leaves our door.

The flashcard market has grown a lot since 2017. So has the number of alternatives. We'll let the product speak for itself: FSC-certified, Dutch-made, and backed by eight years of trust from students, schools, and institutions across the globe.

The original, since 2017

On 30 June 2020 we officially registered the Leitner Flashcards brand. Not a pivot, a natural next step for a product that had already earned its reputation.
